The Lemon Moon Strikes Again (And Lucky Number 5)

It’s the fifth of May.

My lucky number is five.

Today I’m throwing the prompt out the window.

Today I’m sharing a poem that means a lot to me, and will someday go along with a melody in order to be a song.

Today, I’m hoping to get lucky ;)   [a rated G lucky, ahem]

Thanks, as always, for stopping by Hey Lou.  (Oh, and some Lemon Moon music for ya!)

Lament of a Lesser Half

By Melinda Wilder

Of all the legends in this world
There is one that scares me most
I’ve heard rumors of it coming down
You’re voice is the only sound
I’ll listen to until it comes

I’ll hold the air when I walk
To the moon, I’ll learn to talk
Tell my secrets to the night
I’ll try to do this with all my might

You’re my home, so if it’s true
There’s so much I wanna do
Lie together and feel your warmth
Just can’t imagine you being gone

Will I never have a child?
Never see a daughter with your same eyes?
Will I be doomed to walk alone
because I’m not as kind as you?

I’ll hold the air when I walk
To the moon, I’ll learn to talk
Tell my secrets to the night
I’ll try to do this with all my might

I’ll make it up instead
I’ll paint the bedroom a dark red
Like you said you’d like to do
If the Lemon Moon won’t take me too

Times ago we said a promise
I’m kind too, I swear, I’m honest
I don’t want to be trapped with her or him
All the lesser halves, though I’m one of them

I’ll hold the air when I walk
To the moon, I’ll learn to talk
tell my secrets to the night
I’ll try to do this with all my might

All the leaves say your name
And they’re falling everywhere
Can I be a child again?
And fall right in, go back there?

To a place where we were warm and safe
Wind swirled around our heads
Outside in the cold
And you were told

To wait and wait and wait
And now it’s me who’s waiting

I’ll hold the air when I walk
To the moon, I’ll learn to talk
Tell my secrets to the night
I’ll try to do this with all my might

Love, Lou
